As another volume year begins for Operative Dentistry, the editorial staff feels somewhat like Bill Gates in founding Microsoft. We know we have a good thing on our hands, but how do we make it work for everyone else?

We hope that through this short “tutorial,” you, our subscriber, will have the tools you need to access and begin to enjoy your online Operative Dentistry subscription.

First, to access the Operative Dentistry journal online, direct your browser tohttp://www.jopdentonline.org.This will take you to our journal homepage. The most current issue will be available on the homepage. You can also click on the link in the OpDent website(http://www.jopdentonline.org). You will not be prompted for a username or password until you try to access a full text article, which leads to…

In an effort to make this as simple as possible for everyone, all subscriber usernames will be “opdent” and your password is your customer ID (CID) number. You can find your CID number on the mailing label of your paper issue. All CIDs are eight characters—two letters followed by six digits. Using these instructions will place a temporary “cookie” in your system that will allow you access to other full text articles during the same session. These temporary cookies will expire when you close your browser.

Another option that will be available to you is to register with Allen Press (our e-journal provider). This process places a permanent cookie in your system, so that whenever you visit the site, all text will be available to you all the time (for your subscribed year[s].)

Institutional subscribers and their clients will be able to access the journal from any “campus” system. All logged IP addresses of that campus will have unlimited access to the online journal.
