The photographs on the following color plates were taken by the coauthors and several generous colleagues who allowed us to include their images here. These photos represent about 62% of the herpetofauna of Guyana, but they represent all that we could obtain of specimens from relevant localities and they represent the majority of the genera. We tried at first to have all photographs of individuals from Guyana, and most are, but in a few instances (each specified) we had to accept images of specimens from French Guiana, Suriname, or Venezuela.

The legend for each image gives name of the species, locality represented, voucher specimen, size of animal, and photographer, respectively. Sequence of the images approximates that of the species accounts in the text, where additional information can be found.
