CONNECTING PUBLIC HEALTH GRADUATE STUDENTS WITH A LATINX COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON CAREGIVING

Keith Kleszynski (keith-kleszynski@ouhsc.edu), Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Research in the Section of Geriatric Medicine in the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Department of Medicine. Keith is also the Associate Director of the Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative. Keith holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Oklahoma and has 15 years of research experience, including conducting research with older Oklahoman adults, American Indian tribes, undocumented Latino immigrants in the United States, drug court enrollees, and former undocumented Latino immigrants who have returned to Mexico and Latin America. His specialties and research interests involve qualitative research methodologies, population health disparities, geriatric health issues, aging issues, active living, identity, and migration.

Terence Gipson (tgipson@sjfc.edu), Ph.D., MPH is an Assistant Professor of Public Health at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, NY, where he teaches coursework in policy, management, service delivery, and program evaluation. His research focuses on the quality improvement and evaluation of health care delivery for underrepresented and vulnerable populations. In 2011, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation selected Gipson as a Gates Millennium Scholar for his commitment to advancing public health globally. Over the past decade, Gipson has led teams of health professionals on a number of community-engaged initiatives to address service delivery gaps in maternal and child health throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

Kerstin M. Reinschmid (kerstin-reinschmidt@ouhsc.edu), Ph.D., MPH, is an Associate Professor at the Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center. Striving to reduce health disparities and increasing health equity, she has worked with community health workers (CHWs) for the past 20 years. Her expertise includes CHW prevention interventions, the roles of CHWs in addressing diabetes, dementia, and emotional health, and CHW workforce development. Currently, Reinschmidt is co-developing a foundational curriculum for CHWs in Oklahoma that is based on the CHW Core Consensus (C3) Project core skills (https://www.c3project.org/). As a passionate CHW ally, she also is co-leading the Oklahoma CHW Coalition that aims to build a sustainable CHW infrastructure in the state.
