In a recent publication (), Yu et al. present interesting new data on subject-based care (i.v. fluids, blood transfusions, antibiotics and nutritional support) versus population-based care (i.v. fluids and antibiotics) after radiation exposure in nonhuman primates (NHP) using a 6 MV linear accelerator (LINAC) photon radiation source. Yu et al. report the dose rate from the 6 MV LINAC to be 80 ± 2.5 Gy/min which we believe to be an error based on similar studies and should read 80 ± 2.5 cGy/min. Yu et al. also state that the study performed by Farese et al. (), which incorporated supportive care, had defined the LD50/60 to be 7.18 Gy however the study actually estimates the LD50/60 to be 7.53 Gy.

Yu et al. estimate radiation doses for LD50/60 of animals with subject-based care (7.44 Gy) and for...
