Dr. David A. Boothman, our colleague, mentor and friend, unexpectedly passed away on November 1st, 2019 at the age of 61. He leaves behind family, friends and colleagues in the fields of DNA repair, radiation biology, cancer therapeutics and translational research. In a scientific environment that is often overly competitive and secretive, Dave was always open and supportive to all that he met. His enthusiasm for science and mentoring was unparalleled and will be missed.

After receiving his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, Dave earned his PhD in Dr. Sheldon B. Greer's lab in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Miami, where he studied the use of trifluoromethyl-deoxycytidine and tetrahydrouridine as DNA-targeted cancer therapy.
