Mice were exposed to 800 R whole-body x-irradiation at a rate of 15 R per minute. Alpha-hydroxy acid oxidase activity was measured in the liver at various time intervals postexposure. The enzyme activity was increased at 24 hours postirradiation and returned to normal levels at 4 days postexposure. The intracellular distribution of alpha-hydroxy acid oxidase as determined by differential centrifugation remained unaltered after irradiation.
