It is shown by ESR investigation, that in γ-irradiated cellulose triacetate at 77° K, several kinds of radicals are produced which decay approximately according to a second order law at higher temperatures. After uv-irradiation, mainly methyl radicals are generated which have a very short life-time at room temperature. Irradiation at room temperature with uv- or γ-rays results in the same type of radicals.
