Measurements of ionization currents have been made in the following gases and their binary mixtures: NH3, N2, O2, Air, Ar, CH4. For the pure substances present results are in agreement with those previously obtained with the exception of NH3 which was previously measured only at high pressures. The value obtained in this work is 28.59 eV/ion pair. In the case of the various mixtures with ammonia a number of deviations from ideality were noted. These can be reconciled with the Huber equation by the adoption of Klots' effective atomic numbers and the assignment of Zā€² = 10.0 to ammonia.
