This paper reports the results of studies with a line of cultured rat sarcoma cells (RT-2 cells). Survival curves indicate the cells to be highly radioresistant [$D_{0}=240\ \text{rads}$ (air) and$D_{0}=750$ rads (hypoxic)]. The RT-2 cells, originally derived from a hepatosarcoma, retain their malignant potential while in culture. Generation cycle analysis indicates a cell cycle duration of 21 hr;$G_{1}-10.7$ hr, S-8 hr,$G_{2}-1.5$ hr; M-0.8 hr. With the exception of its high radioresistance, the RT-2 cell responds to X-radiation in a manner similar to many other cultured mammalian cell lines.
