The gamma radiolysis of liquid 2,2,4-trimethylpentane and 2,2,5-trimethylhexane at room temperature was investigated under vacuum, at different doses. The effect of some additives and impurities (iodine, diphenilpicrylhydrazyl, oxygen and water) was also investigated. The fragmentation products, some of the recombination products, and the alkyl iodides formed by reaction of the primary radicals with the scavenger iodine were identified and measured. The yield (G) of formation of the products and the yield (G) of rupture of the different bonds of the molecules were calculated and correlated with the molecular structure.
