Rats on their 17th day of gestation were given${}^{144}{\rm Ce}$ intravenously, either carrier-free or with 143 μg Ce. They were sacrificed 48 hr later, and the${}^{144}{\rm Ce}$ contents of their fetuses were determined. The fetuses from the dams that received cerium carrier contained 50% more${}^{144}{\rm Ce}$ than did those from dams that received no carrier.
