A study of electron degradation in neon has been made according to the Fano-Spencer formulation, including explicitly the effect of inner shells and Auger electrons. Degradation spectra for 10 and 30 keV incident energies are obtained using a realistic set of cross sections with multiple checks of internal consistency. Some relations between spectral properties and atomic shell structure are indicated and a W value of ∼35 eV is obtained.
