Wild birds commonly suffer injuries, among which orthopedic injuries are some of the most frequent (Darrow and Bennett 2021). Raptors are generally vulnerable to this type of injury due to collisions with human-made objects, accidental trapping, and shooting (Bedrosian and St. Pierre 2007, Montesdeoca et al. 2016, Hernandez et al. 2018, Al Zoubi et al. 2020, Maphalala et al. 2021). For wild vultures, traumatic injury makes up many of the known cases of morbidity and mortality, second only to poisoning, the most serious threat to them (Ives et al. 2022).
