Recommendations were developed to enhance the conservation of invertebrates. These were derived from workshop groups that focused on policy and planning, and education and awareness. Recommendations were specifically concerned with enhancing research and information flow, enhancing strategic alliances and appointment of invertebrate scientists to conservation and resource agencies, and decision making committees, seeking nationwide consistency in legislation and policy formulation, and enhancing the understanding of invertebrates amongst the community, through education, marketing and media strategies. The role of the “invertebrate” community was highlighted as critical and that they needed to take an integrated and unified approach.
