About the Journal

Our Mission

Launched in 2014 as the official journal of the Particle Therapy Co-Operative Group, it is the mission of IJPT to provide a preferred venue for disseminating the most up-to-date information on the clinical, physical, and biological research in proton, light-ion, and heavy charged-particle therapy. Since its founding, IJPT has published articles by nearly 300 prominent radiation oncologists, physicists, and dosimetrists from 200 institutions around the world.

The IJPT is a quarterly open access journal that does not charge any article submission or processing fees. Articles published in IJPT are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC-BY). Articles are also digitally archived by PubMed CentralPortico, J-Gate, EBSCOhost, Google Scholarthe Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), and Elsevier's Scopus, among others.

Our Review Process and Goals

The IJPT adheres to a blind peer review process for submitted manuscripts (i.e. the identities of the reviewers are concealed from the authors, but the authors are known to reviewers). Each paper is reviewed by at least two reviewers. The goals of the IJPT are to:

  1. assure an efficient means for dissemination of peer-reviewed information regarding particle therapy;
  2. become the preferred location for publication of all types of information regarding particle therapy;
  3. enhance the quality of particle therapy publications through dedicated and creative editorial assistance; and
  4. facilitate career development of young particle therapy investigators.

We welcome editorials, original articles, reports, and technical notes year-round at our online submission site.
