This article discusses the etiology of pediatric spinal cord injury (SCI) and presents contemporary thoughts on the rehabilitation and habilitation of children with SCI based on emerging evidence. In addition, a brief review of the outcomes of adults with childhood onset SCI is presented as a basis for discussion on the implications on practice. Priorities for both clinical care and research efforts in pediatric SCI are outlined.
