The purpose of this study is to describe the vulnerable population of women who have obtained spinal cord injury (SCI) as a result of violence. Data extracted from the National SCI Model Systems database were used to compare the characteristics and outcomes of women with violently acquired spinal cord injury (VASCI) with both other women with SCI and men with VASCI. Results suggest that characteristics and outcomes for women with VASCI fall somewhere between those of their 2 peer groups.
