There are a significant number of promising new and existing devices, procedures, and medications for the management of the neurogenic bladder in women with spinal cord injury. Scientific facts and trends, however, need to be balanced against a patient's current and potential functional status as well as that person's desires and expectations. Careful consideration should be given to the impact of urologic concerns on the social, sexual, medical, and practical aspects of a patient's life.
