This issue is the first product of the new editorial team for The Wilson Journal of Ornithology. Our first act is to praise the retiring editor in chief (Mary Bomberger Brown) and her associate editor in chief (Melissa Panella). They did a great job during Mary's term and will be hard to match; Mary was particularly helpful during the rigorous transition of papers and systems.

The new editor in chief recently retired after 40 years as a biology and wildlife faculty member at the University of Missouri-Columbia. His past editorial duties include 17 years as an associate editor with Conservation Biology, 6 years as editor of Ornithological Monographs, including 6 affiliated books with the Series in Ornithology, and a year with PLOS.
