This is the standard-bearer of field guides for the birds of Hispaniola. This edition is a more accessible companion in the field than the 2006 edition because it is sturdier and smaller, and having the species' descriptions and range maps on the facing page of the illustration plates makes it a convenient field guide. The authors are experts in the field of ornithology and habitat conservation in Haiti and the Dominican Republic and this edition includes updated information based upon their research and that of many citizen scientists in Hispaniola who have submitted their observations on eBird since the earlier edition. The information on birding hotspots in both countries is locally informed and is invaluable to anyone wishing to engage in ecotourism on the island.
There are illustrations of every bird species listed in this field guide; however, many of the new illustrations by the principal illustrator are not true...
