In 2002, the Wilson Ornithological Society was contacted by the executors of Nancy Klamm’s estate to let the Society know that it would be receiving a significant bequest. Both Nancy and her husband, Bill, had been long-time Society members and members of the Audit Committee after Bill completed 4 years as the Treasurer of the Society. At the 2003 Council meeting, our Investing Trustees informed Council that this bequest would more than double our endowment and would result in the Society maintaining assets of more than $2,000,000. In 2005, Council established the William and Nancy Klamm Service Award that recognizes a member’s substantial service to the Society. The award honors our generous benefactors who also had served the society in significant ways. Bill served as Treasurer for 5 years from 1968 to 1972 and then both he and Nancy served on the Auditing Committee in the 1970s and 1980s. The...
